Hen Party Accessories from HenStuff

We have another food-related post for you today, as we're talking about setting up a sweet station at your hen party! This is perfect for hens who are celebrating at home, have hired a private venue, or are  staying in an apartment.

While there are many companies who provide hire services of this kind, it can become a little pricey for hens who are looking to stick to a particular budget. After all, if you've already spend lots of money on accommodation, activities etc, it can seem a bit of a stretch to spend money on added extras.

The good news, is that it is super simple to plan a candy buffet or sweet station yourself, buy buying your own sweets and doing a little DIY work!

Step 1 - Stock up on Sweeties!

Here at HenStuff, we supply lots of sweet goodies for your hen night, so it won't be difficult to find lots of old favourites and hen-themed candies for your spread.

Will you pick something naughty or nice? Why not have both! Shop sweets here.

Step 2 - Get Crafty in the Kitchen!

We recently shared a few recipes for yummy bakes and treats to serve up at your hen party, which you can find here if you missed it. Another great idea is to make some marshmallow pops, which have become very popular in recent years, due to the fact that they look great and are easy to make. There is a super easy demonstration image here, but essentially, all you will need is: lollypop sticks, chocolate, cake decorations and maybe food colouring if desired.

If you're feeling a bit more ambitious, then why not try making some pretty macaroons? Not only will they add a touch of French bakery chic to your table, they also present you with the opportunity to try a range of different flavours and colours! Check out this strawberry macaroons recipe to get you started.

Step 3 - Set the Scene!

You'll want to make sure that the sweet station looks as good as it tastes, so it's important to think about the layout. Luckily, you can buy lots of plastic sweet jars online, which emulate the look of glass at a much lower price. Experiment with pretty jars, cake stands and bowls until you get your desired effect. For extra impact, try sticking to sweets and storage of the same colour(s), to make your arrangement look even more stylish and put-together. For the table or stand, you may want to add extra elements of decoration, which you can easily make yourself with some pretty card and paper. No matter what you do for your Hen Party, look the part:

We're all familiar with the traditional hen and stag do's; the girls usually head to a relaxing spa retreat, whilst the lads usually booze it up in Eastern Europe, but those days are in the past as couples are now choosing to have a joint stag and hen party instead, known as Sten or Hag do's. Many couples share a similar circle of friends and choosing to share your celebrations together is a great way to get all your friends in one place for one big bash before the wedding.
With Sten and Hag do's increasing in popularity, we feel it's the perfect chance to share with you some great activities that'll be fun for both the hens and the stags! So here are our top activities for a joint stag and hen do:

Pub Treasure Hunt

It's the battle of the sexes, to see which party can solve all the questions and challenges, and become the ultimate treasure hunting champions! This activity combines the fun of a pub crawl, with the problem solving of a treasure hunt - the perfect combination if you ask us. You will be set with a bunch of challenges and puzzles, which you must solve, in order to move on to the next location/pub. To ensure your brain is working to its full capacity, it's important you stay hydrated, so we suggest having a drink or two and each pub. This will ensure you're switched on to tackle any challenge that is placed in front of you! This truly is the perfect activity to have on your sten or hag do and is guaranteed to get you in the competitive spirit and get the drinks flowing!

Inflatable Games

A little inflatable madness is perfect for a Sten and Hag do! Split into two teams, whether you decide to do hens vs stags or split the teams evenly, you're guaranteed to have plenty of fun! Each team will be awarded points for completing an obstacle and at the end of the day the winning team will receive some cool prizes. You'll need teamwork, a never say die attitude and a little competitive streak but don't worry, from start to finish, you're going to have fun and like your parents always said: "it's the taking part that counts!". To make it even more hilarious, why not bring along your very own embarrassingly shaped inflatable too...

Escape Games

If you enjoy puzzles and challenges, this activity is for you! Split your sten or hag do into two teams and try and solve all the puzzles, codes, and riddles in 60 minutes. If you don't manage to beat the time, you may have to stay in the room forever! This activity is the perfect chance to see who out of the hen or stags are the ultimate problem-solving champions and complete the Escape Game. If you'd prefer to play party games at home instead, why not take a look at our Party Games instead!

Paintballing

Paintballing is the perfect activity for a Sten or Hag do. It's the ideal way to relieve any pre-wedding tension! If the best man is planning to embarrass you in his speech or the mother-in-law is messing with your plans, spray them with some paintballs, we promise you it'll make you feel better. Of course, paintballing isn't all about getting payback, it's a great way for you all to bond and it's a great, fun, outdoor activity. If you're looking for a day out filled with laughs, then paintballing is perfect for you!

Booze Cruise

Start your Sten or Hag do off in style with a booze cruise! Get ready for a fun journey on the ocean, filled with drinks, plenty of dancing and fun activities! It's far more different and exciting than you're regular land-based bars. Take in the stunning scenery and the sea breeze, as you party under the stars aboard this party vessel. It's the perfect way to end your hag do with all your favourite guys and gals! For some boozy accessories to take with you, take a look at our drinking accessories

Great British Hen Party

Woop! The Great British Bake Off is back on our TV’s, and although it’s now just about as controversial as a binned baked Alaska (miss you Mel, Sue and Mary), we still can’t help but rejoice a little bit. If you love Bake off (new and/or old) you may decide that a Great British Bake Off Hen Party is for you, something a little more… sophisticated. Everyone loves Afternoon Tea and now you have every excuse to put a GBBO spin on it - so here are our tips for throwing a Great British Bake Off themed hen party!

Time to Decorate

hen party bunting

Everyone loves that look of the Bake Off tent, all those pastel colours, all that bunting - just wonderful. This is easy enough to copy. Think vintage, think British, think what would make Mary Berry happy. Go all out with tea pots and cake stands to really look the part. You can still make this a hen-centric party, and the usual hen party balloons, etc are still completely acceptable.

What to Drink

afternoon tea

Tea is a quintessential part of British nature and so, naturally, you will have tea! We all love tea, we have Earl Gray running through our veins. It's particularly satisfying when served in cute tea cups so make sure you have all the right stuff!

We also love a bit of booze at any party, a favourite for this theme would, of course, be Pimms, both British and sophisticated!

Get the Baked Goods!

baked goods

The baked goods at the Great British Bake Off Hen Party are everyone's favourite part! It's completely up to you if you decide to have baking going on at your party. Baking as a group can be a hilarious, if not messy, activity. Of course, most of you will only have one oven free at a time, so bringing pre made treats is a great shout too! You can ask each of your hens to bake something to bring something random, or you could have a theme and make it a little competition! Whatever you decide to do, you can't go wrong with baked goods.

Party Activities

garden party

As well as eating/baking cakes, if it's sunny, it's the perfect time to have a garden party. Why not play a round of croquet? Or rounders? Being outside puts everyone in a great mood, just try not to over do it if you and the other hens are full of booze and cake... If the British weather is disappointing (as it often it) this is still just as fun inside - just be careful not to break anything!

If you need any accessories for your hen, whether you want something naughty or nice, we've got a fantastic collection on offer. Have a look at our Hen Party Essentials and really make your party pop.

A hen night memento book is the perfect way to reminisce about the fantastic night you had celebrating with your best friends! This makes a lovely gift for the bride who can cringe and delight in all the crazy antics you got up to!

Another great hen party favour for the bride is the hen night kissing lip sheet, girly and fabulous! Have all the hens make their mark with a lipstick kiss and frame this work of art as a lovely memento.

Spa Day

Spa Day

You already know about this one, why? Because we all love a day pampering ourselves! With all the stress of planning a wedding a spa day is a welcome change from all the hysteria. Get the girls glowing with a day of facials and massages. A spa day is also a great hen party daytime activity after a wild hen night out!

Festivals

With festival season in full swing we couldn’t leave this one off the list! Get some booze, put on your flower crowns and listen to some awesome bands! A lot of festivals have day tickets available too, so if camping isn’t your thing or you don’t want to commit to a full weekend then you can just have an amazing day rocking out!

Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea

If novelty phallic accessories and ‘L plates’ aren’t for the bride-to-be, afternoon tea is a lovely hen party daytime activity. Not to mention, it’s something you won’t cringe about bringing your mother to! Lots of hotels offer this as a package so read some reviews of the local favourites and get the ‘Downton Abbey’ vibes started.

Assault Course

Assault Course

Is the bride-to-be a fitness nut? An assault course is the perfect competitive hen party daytime activity. Even if she’s not really that into fitness (and let's be honest, not many of us are) an assault course can be a hilarious place for a hen party! There are tons of options from mud runs to high-ropes course so decide how daring you are and get your adrenaline running.
